Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Lancaster, Ohio
Contribute your expertise as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter, supporting a middle school student transitioning back from a specialized setting to a mainstream educational environment. Key Qualifications:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required.
- Previous experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings strongly preferred.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive school background check is essential.
- EIPA score strongly desired for consideration.
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, and reliability.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Accompany one middle school student throughout the school day, from approximately 7:00 a.m. to between 1:45 and 2:00 p.m.
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation in classroom settings and during transitions, facilitating communication between the student, peers, and staff.
- Foster an inclusive environment by interpreting classroom discussions, instructions, social interactions, and school announcements.
- Support the student’s integration, engagement, and access to all aspects of school life.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to ensure appropriate accommodations as needed.
