Assigned to provide ASL interpretation for an individual student, you’ll operate in a supportive, collaborative atmosphere with educators and staff.
Key Qualifications:
- Hold a valid EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience interpreting in a school or educational setting is a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families
- Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality at all times
- Approachable, patient, and adaptable to changes in assignment or schedule
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear and accurate sign language interpretation services for a designated student within an elementary school setting
- Adapt interpreting approach based on the student’s unique communication needs and classroom activities
- Collaborate with teachers and specialists to ensure inclusive participation for the student
- Assist in fostering an accessible learning environment by facilitating communication during lessons, activities, and school events
- Support compliance with all relevant educational and district policies and procedures
- Participate in team meetings as needed to support student success
