The assignment spans the academic year, beginning August 10th, 2026, and concluding June 17th, 2027.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Maryland Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) license required
- Experience providing interpreting services in educational environments strongly preferred
- Proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL); ability to adapt to student-specific communication needs
- Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical interpreting practices
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and educators
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality interpreting for a single student in the classroom and other school settings as needed
- Facilitate clear, accurate communication between the student and teachers, peers, and staff
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure the student's full participation in academic and social activities
- Provide insight and feedback regarding the student's communication needs and progress
- Maintain all documentation and records per state and district requirements
