Key Qualifications:
- Valid Oregon Sign Language Interpreter Certification or Licensure required
- Strong fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
- Experience working within K-12 school settings is highly valued
- Ability to adapt interpreting techniques for various age groups and educational needs
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services between spoken English and ASL for students, staff, and families in educational settings
- Support instruction and classroom communications, both one-on-one and in group environments
- Adapt interpreting styles to suit a range of student ages and educational content
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and assist in developing communication access plans where necessary
- Collaborate with teachers, case managers, and team members to identify and implement best practices for student success
- Maintain accurate records of services and ongoing communication with school personnel
