Make an incredible impact supporting students as a contract Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026-2027 school year. Four skilled interpreters are needed to provide onsite services in the vibrant communities of Rosenburg and Douglas, Oregon. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with K-12 students across a variety of settings, ensuring meaningful access to education for all.
You’ll work closely with educators and students, facilitating clear and effective communication in real time. Leverage your expertise and certification in a supportive school environment, where your contributions can positively affect student growth and inclusion. The district is seeking dedicated interpreters ready to make a difference throughout the school year from August 24, 2026, to June 11, 2027.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Sign Language Interpreter certification or licensure in Oregon
- Proven proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpretation for educational settings
- Comfortable working with students from kindergarten through high school (K-12)
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Professionalism, dependability, and enthusiasm for working in school environments
- Experience in educational interpreting is preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction and activities for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Support communication during school events, IEP meetings, and collaborative sessions
- Accurately convey spoken information using ASL and vice versa
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere for all students
- Work onsite throughout the assignment—remote work is not available
