This contract opportunity is exclusively onsite in the Southern Oregon region, serving schools in both Rosenburg and Douglas. Key Qualifications:
- Current Oregon Sign Language Interpreter Certification or Licensure is required
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of relevant interpreting standards
- Experience supporting students in educational settings, ideally across K-12 grade levels
- Professionalism, excellent communication, and adaptability in dynamic classroom environments
- Ability to collaborate with educators, staff, and families to facilitate learning and inclusion
Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and hearing individuals during class, school activities, and meetings
- Accurately relay spoken language into sign language and vice versa, adjusting style to support student comprehension
- Support students’ understanding of academic content, class discussions, and social interactions
- Maintain confidentiality and follow district, state, and professional guidelines
- Participate in team meetings to collaborate on student needs, progress, and accommodations
- Foster an environment where all students can engage fully and equally in classroom activities
