Requirements:
- Active Louisiana Department of Education Sign Language Interpreter Certification (Louisiana DOE Cert) is required
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and ability to interpret for students in educational settings
- Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools or with children/adolescents is highly desirable
- Must successfully complete both a drug screen and fingerprinting for district credentialing, in addition to other onboarding requirements
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Professionalism, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit
Responsibilities:
- Provide effective interpreting services for students and school staff, bridging communication in classrooms, school events, and meetings
- Support access to instruction and school activities for students using ASL as their primary communication mode
- Adapt interpreting style to meet individual student needs and educational content
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with school and ethical guidelines
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and administrators to optimize student engagement and success
