Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience as an ASL Interpreter in schools or educational settings
- Skills in teaching or tutoring American Sign Language to students
- Knowledge of the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- National Interpreter Certification (NIC) or equivalent, preferred
- Strong collaboration and communication abilities
- Flexibility to adapt to various classroom settings and student needs
Responsibilities:
- Provide ASL interpreting services for students, staff, and faculty during instructional sessions and school events
- Facilitate communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and peers, teachers, and staff
- Support students' understanding of curriculum by conveying information accurately and impartially
- If assigned, teach or reinforce American Sign Language with students or groups as needed
- Participate in team meetings, IEP sessions, and professional development activities
- Maintain professional confidentiality and adhere to all school policies
