Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Paradise, California
Support a dynamic learning environment by facilitating communication for hard-of-hearing and deaf students in an educational setting near Paradise, CA. Onsite interpreters provide essential sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting, ensuring equitable access to classroom instruction and fostering inclusion among students and staff. This is a full-time contract position, with approximately 30 hours per week during the school year. Your expertise will directly impact students in elementary and intermediate school settings; preferences for grade level can be accommodated.
Key Qualifications:
- Current certification by the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf, OR
- Score of 4.0 or above on EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessments
- Candidates with EIPA under 4.0 considered as ASL Para, supporting classroom environments
- Strong command of American Sign Language and effective listening, interpreting, and communication skills
- Experience assisting students with academic (reading, writing, math) and/or life/vocational skills
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation for students, teachers, and school personnel
- Facilitate clear communication during classroom instruction and activities
- Support hard-of-hearing and deaf students with both academic and daily living skills
- Supervise and assist students during classroom, outdoor, and community settings
- Adapt to different learning situations and collaborate with teachers and staff
