- Knowledge of best practices for supporting students with special education needs (SPED)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Relevant certifications or credentials for educational interpreting (such as EIPA, RID, or similar)
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time interpretation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Facilitate communication between students, classroom teachers, and support staff
- Support classroom learning through clear and effective interpretation of lessons, instructions, and discussions
- Collaborate with special education professionals and Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams to optimize student success
- Document and report student progress and any concerns as appropriate
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing training to stay current with best practices
