Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in school or education environments
- Ability to facilitate clear communication between students, staff, and families
- Familiarity with Deaf culture and best practices for supporting Deaf or hard-of-hearing learners
- Certification in interpreting or relevant credentials preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, collaborative attitude
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for students and staff during classroom instruction and school events
- Foster a welcoming, accessible environment for Deaf/hard-of-hearing students
- Collaborate with educators to ensure classroom materials and activities are accessible
- Support student learning and encourage self-advocacy skills
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Participate in relevant school meetings, IEPs, and professional development
