Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 required
- Experience providing one-on-one interpreting services, preferably in an educational setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt interpreting styles for individual student preferences and learning needs
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate and timely sign language interpretation between students, staff, and educators in classroom and school activities
- Facilitate effective communication to support the student’s access to curriculum and peer interaction
- Collaborate closely with teachers and educational staff to ensure consistent support tailored to the student’s needs
- Assist in creating an inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere
- Document and report on student progress and communication needs as required by the educational team
