This is a full-time, full-year contract opportunity based near Wheatfield, IN.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid credential as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 required
- Experience interpreting in K-12 educational environments preferred
- Strong command of American Sign Language (ASL) and English
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and administrators
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation for a designated student in a mainstream classroom and throughout the school day
- Facilitate effective communication between the student and teachers, peers, and other school staff
- Adapt signing levels and modes to match student’s language needs
- Support the student’s participation in lessons, activities, and social opportunities
- Collaborate with educational teams to support IEP goals and student progress
- Participate in professional development and team meetings as needed
- Maintain accurate records of interpreting activities and student interactions
