Sign Language Interpreter in Richmond, TX
Step into a meaningful role supporting high school students who benefit from specialized language access services. As a part-time American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter for the 2026-2027 academic year, you will facilitate communication in a behavioral classroom setting. This opportunity is ideal for experienced interpreters who are looking to make a difference in a focused, supportive environment and would like a flexible schedule—specifically working Fridays with additional subbing opportunities.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Experience providing ASL interpretation in educational or similar settings
- Knowledge of Deaf and Hard of Hearing advocacy and best practices
- Comfortable navigating behavioral classroom environments
- Skilled at working with assistive technology (cochlear implants, hearing aids, ALD devices)
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Availability for contract work on Fridays throughout the school year
Responsibilities:
- Provide ASL interpretation for a 9th-grade student during instructional periods each Friday
- Support language access in a behavioral class, ensuring information is clearly conveyed
- Collaborate with educational staff to promote student engagement and inclusion
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in every interaction
- Step in as a substitute language facilitator when needed during absences Monday–Thursday
