Step into a vital role as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students in a dynamic school environment located near San Antonio, TX. This contract opportunity extends from ASAP through May 26, 2027, with full-time, on-site hours—37.5 per week—translating sign language for students in grades PK through 8. Work closely with one school, building meaningful connections and making a daily difference.
Key Qualifications:
- Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), or Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing: BEI I or II (previous system) or Basic (current system)
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Able to meet district requirements, including fingerprinting and background check before starting
- Comfortable interpreting in an educational setting, adapting to the communication needs of PK-8 students
- Professionalism, reliability, and sensitivity to diverse learning needs
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear communication for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in classroom and school-based settings
- Interpret classroom lessons, instructions, and school events to foster equal access to learning
- Collaborate with educators and staff to support student inclusion, comprehension, and participation
- Adhere strictly to confidentiality standards and educational guidelines
- Provide feedback to staff about communication effectiveness and classroom access
- Maintain accurate records and support assessments as required by the school
