Full-Time Sign Language Interpreter

We are seeking a dedicated Educational Sign Language Interpreter to provide in-person interpretation services for a high school student in a supportive educational environment near Shakopee, Minnesota. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact by ensuring student access to instruction and school activities throughout the academic day.
Position Details
- Location: High school setting near Shakopee, MN
- Assignment Length: ASAP through the end of the school year
- Schedule: Monday-Friday
- Hours: Approximately 35 hours per week
- Work Hours: 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- Students arrive at 8:15 AM
- Students are dismissed at 3:05 PM
- Service Delivery: In-person only
Student Information
- High school student in 10th grade
- Provide interpreting services throughout the student's daily academic schedule
Supported Courses
The interpreter will support the student in the following classes:
- Geometry
- U.S. History
- Focused Skills (structured study hall)
- Fashion and Merchandise
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, professional sign language interpretation during classroom instruction and school-related activities
- Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, peers, and school staff
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards
- Collaborate with educational staff to support student access to the curriculum
- Assist in creating an inclusive learning environment that promotes student success
Qualifications
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior educational or school-based interpreting experience preferred
- Ability to work effectively with high school students and educational teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Applicable certification(s) and credentials preferred according to state and district requirements
Compensation
Competitive compensation based on experience, certifications, assignment requirements, and other relevant factors. Compensation is negotiable for qualified candidates.
