Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
- Completion of a VA Dept. of Social Services background check (must be initiated immediately)
- Current TB test as required by state regulations
- Likely need for VQAS Level III certification or a 3.5 EIPA score (final requirement pending district confirmation)
- Previous experience in educational settings is highly valued
- Strong communication skills, adaptability, and commitment to student-centered service
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation between staff, students, and families in various school contexts
- Serve students of various age groups within the district as assignments arise
- Work collaboratively with educators and support staff to foster accessible learning environments
- Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and inclusivity at all times
- Manage flexible schedules and diverse assignments based on district need
