Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- VQAS Level III Certification or a score of 3.5 or higher on the EIPA highly preferred (pending final requirements)
- Experience working or volunteering as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in educational settings
- Ability to adapt quickly to varied assignments and shifting schedules
- Capable of maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Immediate availability to complete a Virginia Department of Social Services background check
- Ability to obtain a Virginia TB test as required
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver sign language interpretation for students across elementary, middle, and high schools, with age groups and assignments varying based on daily need
- Foster an inclusive communication environment to help students access their curriculum and participate fully in school activities
- Collaborate closely with education staff and administrators to address individual student needs
- Remain on call to respond to coverage openings and requests as they arise
