Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Sykesville, Maryland

This contract position offers the opportunity to support a Kindergarten student who communicates through sign language, working onsite for 35 hours each week. While the student does not have a hearing impairment, your fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) will be essential in fostering clear classroom communication and enhancing the student’s learning experience.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required.
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting preferred.
- Ability to interpret and facilitate communication in various classroom activities.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment.

Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instructions, conversations, and peer interactions for the student.
- Bridge communication between the student, teachers, and classmates throughout the school day.
- Support academic and extracurricular activities by providing real-time ASL interpretation.
- Collaborate with educators and school staff to ensure the student’s full participation.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Adjust interpreting methods to meet the evolving needs of the student.
