Online Sign Language Interpreter - NV
A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support telehealth services within a school environment in North Las Vegas, NV. This position operates under a 1099 contract arrangement, providing flexibility for professionals experienced in educational settings and remote interpreting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and educational staff through sign language interpretation.
- Support telehealth sessions by providing clear and accurate sign language interpretation via virtual platforms.
- Ensure all interpreted information maintains confidentiality and adheres to professional ethics.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and educators to promote inclusive communication within telehealth consultations and classroom activities.
- Manage scheduling and communication independently as part of the contract agreement.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with formal interpreter training or certification preferred.
- Experience interpreting within educational settings and telehealth contexts.
- Strong understanding of ethical standards and confidentiality requirements for interpreting roles.
- Ability to manage a 1099 contract, including self-directed scheduling and record-keeping.
- Excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivity towards the Deaf community.
