Now Hiring a Sign Language Interpreter in Virginia Beach, VA
ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and qualified Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for the 2026–2027 school year in the Virginia Beach area. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide interpreting and communication support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing while collaborating with teachers, staff, families, and educational teams.
This assignment provides the opportunity to support students throughout the school day while ensuring meaningful access to instruction, communication, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
Work Schedule:
Full-Time
35 Hours per Week
August 24, 2026 – June 11, 2027
School-Based Setting
Classroom Support Throughout the School Day
Qualifications:
Valid Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III required
EIPA Score of 3.5 required
Experience providing educational interpreting services preferred
Strong ASL and English communication skills
Ability to effectively interpret and facilitate communication in an educational environment
Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities:
Provide sign language interpreting services throughout the school day
Provide classroom communication support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers
Provide interpretation services for meetings involving deaf or hard-of-hearing parents/guardians
Support student access to instruction and participation in the educational environment
Provide coverage for student extracurricular activities, which may require work beyond regular school hours
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and educational staff to support student communication needs
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when interpreting in educational settings
