Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Waverly, NE

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of elementary students by providing essential communication support as a Sign Language Interpreter. This contract opportunity is located near Waverly, NE, and runs from August 12, 2026, through May 20, 2027. Work onsite supporting young learners within an elementary school environment, either during full school hours or in the afternoons if preferred.
Qualifications & Desired Skills:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and able to translate in real time for elementary-aged students
- Experience within a school or educational setting is highly desirable
- Possession of a valid Sign Language Interpreter credential or a PROVISIONAL license (EIPA under 4.0 accepted)
- Ability to adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in a school environment
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary educational team
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpreting services for students in classroom and school activities
- Support communication between students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and their peers, teachers, and instructional staff
- Foster inclusive classroom environments that encourage student participation and engagement
- Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to ensure cohesive support for each student’s IEP goals
- Participate in school meetings and training sessions as needed
