Key Qualifications:
- Current EIPA score of 3.0 or higher (required)
- Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in schools or with children
- Strong understanding of deaf culture and the needs of deaf or hard-of-hearing students
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to interpret in dynamic classroom environments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Professionalism and adaptability in a fast-paced school setting
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to school policies
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for elementary students and staff
- Assist students during classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings
- Collaborate with teachers, administration, and special education staff to ensure student access to curriculum and school communications
- Support a positive, inclusive educational experience for all students
- Uphold district guidelines and ethical interpreting standards
