Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Aurora, IL

Desired Skills and Experience:
- Proficient in ASL and experienced in educational interpreting, preferably at the junior high or high school level
- State licensure or certification for educational interpreting (if required by state law or regulations)
- Ability to provide clear, accurate interpreting of instructional and non-instructional communication
- Adaptable to varying student needs and comfortable working in diverse classroom and campus settings
- Experience supporting DHH students in academic and related service environments is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students, staff, and families during classes and school functions
- Work assigned hours on-site according to the designated school schedule, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch
- Serve as a communication bridge for specialized services such as OT, social work, and counseling sessions
- Flex between classrooms or roles, especially for the FLOAT position, to provide coverage district-wide and substitute for colleagues when needed
- Collaborate with educators and student support teams to ensure IEP goals are met
Multiple roles are available, including our top priority: a semester-long LOA beginning August 20 through December 18, with possibilities for continued employment into the full school year. Flexible assignment types and schedules are offered to suit a variety of professional preferences.
