Current assignment options include:
- First semester leave of absence (highest priority): August 20 to December 18, 8:00 am – 3:10 pm, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
- Short-term leave of absence: August 20 to October 30, 8:00 am – 3:10 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
- Full-time role at East View Academy: 7:45 am – 2:45 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
- Full-Time FLOAT Interpreter servicing DHH students district-wide: 8:45 am – 3:45 pm, supporting service minutes (Occupational Therapy, Social Work, etc.) and providing substitute coverage as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven ability to interpret in educational settings
- Prior experience working with students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing (DHH) is strongly preferred
- National or state interpreter certification or eligibility required
- Ability to collaborate with instructional staff and adapt interpreting to meet specific student needs
- Professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, accurate interpretation for classroom activities, service-related sessions, and school events
- Foster student engagement and access to curriculum through effective communication
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards
- Provide support for service minutes and substitute for interpreter absences as needed
