Key Qualifications:
- Certification/licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter (state and/or national)
- Experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to new teams and school environments
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students, staff, and families
- Collaborate with educators to support classroom instruction
- Assist with IEP meetings, school assemblies, and extracurricular activities as needed
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Maintain accurate records and comply with confidentiality protocols
