Sign Language Interpreter in Cape May Court House, NJ
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a 1:1 ASL Paraprofessional / Signing Aide in a K–12 school environment. You’ll play a vital role supporting an individual student who requires continuous sign language assistance throughout the school day. This position, scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM, runs from November 2, 2026, through the end of the school year, offering stability and a meaningful way to make a difference.
Your main responsibility will be providing consistent communication access and instructional support in American Sign Language, helping the student fully engage in the classroom setting. The school is seeking candidates with conversational-to-fluent ASL skills; formal EIPA or RID interpreter credentials are not necessary for this placement.
What we’re looking for:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (conversational to fluent) for everyday classroom communication
- High school diploma and paraprofessional qualifications (such as completion of the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment, 60+ college credits, or an associate’s degree)
- Familiarity with supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students or previous experience in special education settings is preferred
- Ability to clear standard background screening processes, including fingerprinting, criminal check, and required health clearances
Your day-to-day will involve working closely with your assigned student, facilitating their access to instruction, and collaborating with the educational team to meet IEP goals. Your presence helps foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
Compensation for this role is competitive, with hourly pay between $22.00 and $26.00, depending on your experience and ASL proficiency.
