Step into a highly impactful role supporting student success as a 1:1 ASL Paraprofessional / Signing Aide in a K–12 educational environment. As an Educational Signing Assistant, you’ll work directly with a student whose Individualized Education Program (IEP) specifies continuous American Sign Language (ASL) support during classroom instruction and activities. This contract opportunity spans from November 2, 2026, through the end of the school year, with a steady Monday–Friday schedule (8:15 AM – 3:15 PM).
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in conversational to fluent ASL for effective 1:1 communication and instructional support.
- High school diploma required; completion of paraprofessional credentials (such as the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment, 60+ college credit hours, or Associate degree), in line with state/district requirements.
- Ability to pass background clearances including fingerprinting, TB/drug screening, and criminal background check per standard onboarding policies.
- Prior experience engaging with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students or working in special education environments strongly preferred.
- Availability to commit through the full academic year with daily coverage during specified school hours.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate accessible, ASL-supported communication between the student, peers, and staff throughout the school day.
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and support teams to tailor instructional support as outlined in the student’s IEP.
- Foster inclusion and active participation for the student in both academic and non-academic activities.
- Track and communicate student progress in collaboration with educational teams.
