Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Wildwood, New Jersey
Step into a meaningful educational setting as a dedicated 1:1 ASL Paraprofessional / Signing Aide, supporting a K–12 student near Wildwood, NJ. This contract position runs from November 2, 2026, through the end of the school year. You'll provide essential sign language interpretation and classroom assistance on a consistent Monday through Friday schedule (8:15 AM – 3:15 PM, 35 hours weekly).
In this role, you'll be a crucial communication bridge, creating an inclusive environment for one Deaf or Hard of Hearing student. The school welcomes candidates who are conversational to fluent in American Sign Language—no formal EIPA/RID interpreter certification is required, as this 1:1 opportunity is tailored for paraprofessionals and signing aides passionate about educational support.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (conversational or higher) to offer real-time communication assistance throughout the day.
- High school diploma and completed paraprofessional qualifications (such as the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment, 60+ college credits, or an Associate degree), in accordance with state and district guidelines.
- Up-to-date district-required onboarding including fingerprinting, background checks, TB clearance, and drug screening.
- Prior experience in classrooms supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students or involvement in special education preferred.
- Full availability across the contract dates, reliably covering the daily 8:15 AM – 3:15 PM schedule.
This opportunity offers competitive hourly compensation, from $22.00 to $26.00 per hour based on experience and ASL skill level.
