What You’ll Do:
- Deliver accurate, impartial American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for lessons, meetings, and school events
- Interpret communication during assemblies, field trips, extracurriculars, and other functions
- Support and empower students in classroom, small group, and one-on-one settings
- Adapt interpreting style to match individual student needs and preferences
- Work closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff to reinforce student inclusion and educational goals
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all interactions
- Document interpreting services and communicate relevant information to the educational team
- Embrace and model culturally responsive communication with respect to Deaf culture
Your Background:
- Appropriate certification/licensure to work as a Sign Language Interpreter in Nevada
- Fluent in ASL and English, with strong interpreting proficiency
- Understanding of educational settings and the importance of student confidentiality
- Prior experience in a school or pediatric environment preferred
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work with students across a range of ages and communication needs
- Willingness to complete district-mandated background clearance
- Familiarity with IEPs and multidisciplinary educational teams a plus
