Eligibility for this opportunity requires the following:
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter credentials with an EIPA score of 3.0 or higher
- In-depth understanding of American Sign Language (ASL) and proficiency in interpreting within educational settings
- Previous experience in K-12 school environments is a plus
- Ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and staff
- Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and advocacy for students’ communication needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing during classes and school activities
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and peers in a variety of classroom and school settings
- Adapt interpreting approaches to meet individual student needs and learning environments
- Collaborate actively with educational staff and related service providers to ensure student inclusion and participation
- Maintain accurate records as required and uphold all ethical standards of interpretation
Position Details:
- Full-time, Monday through Friday: 7:45 am – 2:30 pm
- Consistent schedule during the school year with flexibility on work days
