Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Current educator certification required
- Achieved a score of at least 75% on the EIPA written assessment
- EIPA performance evaluation of 4.0 or higher, or an active NIC credential from RID
- Previous experience interpreting in school settings is valued
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills
- Adaptability and professionalism in a dynamic educational environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate sign language interpretation between the student, staff, and peers during academic and extracurricular activities
- Prepare for classes in advance, reviewing lesson materials as needed
- Support the student’s engagement and understanding in classroom discussions and activities
- Collaborate closely with educators and support staff to foster an inclusive learning space
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards
- Offer insights on best practices and accommodations relevant to deaf or hard-of-hearing students
