Step into a rewarding contract opportunity providing essential support as a Sign Language Interpreter for a 5th-grade student embarking on their journey with an interpreter. This position is onsite and based at a single school near Chehalis, WA, offering consistent full-time hours—30 per week—throughout the entire 2026/2027 school year, from August to June 2027.
As an interpreter, your expertise in sign language will bridge communication and enhance access to education. You’ll work closely with classroom teachers and staff, making a genuine difference in the student’s daily school experience.
Key Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 4.0, or fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or in a similar ASL paraprofessional role preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with educators and students
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Reliability and professionalism in maintaining confidentiality
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation and communication support during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
- Facilitate clear interactions between the student, teachers, and peers
- Participate in individualized education plan (IEP) meetings and contribute to student support strategies
- Adapt interpreting methods to best meet student needs as familiarity with the process develops
- Maintain accurate records relating to communication services provided
