Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Cottage Grove, OR
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a collaborative educational setting. Your primary responsibility will be providing 1:1 interpretation for a student, moving between a select set of school locations throughout the district. While your base will be primarily in the Eugene area, you will establish continuity and rapport by supporting the same group of buildings. The role is full-time, running from August 24, 2026, through June 15, 2027, with 1–2 openings remaining for qualified interpreters.
Qualifications include:
- Completion of interpreter training program
- Score above 3.5 on the IEPA assessment
- All relevant licensure and certifications as required by the district
- Experience in educational settings, ideally supporting DHH students
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a classroom support team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to professional standards and continuous development
Key responsibilities:
- Provide ASL interpretation in educational environments on a consistent 1:1 basis
- Collaborate and consult with teachers, DHH supports, and additional classroom staff
- Maintain confidentiality and support equitable communication access for students
- Travel between a designated group of school buildings per assignment
