What You’ll Bring:
- Must hold a current Sign Language Interpreter license from the Georgia Department of Education (GA DOE SLI License), as the district will not accept HR waivers
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience supporting students in a K-12 educational setting is preferred
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Ability to work courteously and professionally with staff, students, and families
- Strong sense of responsibility and reliability for consistent onsite attendance
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for a designated student in all classroom and school-related activities
- Facilitate communication between the student and peers, teachers, and staff members
- Support the student’s participation in instructional and extracurricular activities
- Adapt interpreting techniques to match student’s communication needs
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
- Collaborate with educational teams to optimize the student’s learning environment
