Bring your expertise in sign language interpretation to a vibrant educational environment near Fort Monroe, VA. Four full-time contract opportunities are available for skilled interpreters to support students in a dynamic school setting. These roles are crucial in facilitating communication and ensuring every student’s needs are met throughout the academic year, from August 24, 2026, through June 11, 2027. All assignments are on-site only—no virtual or hybrid arrangements permitted.
Your day-to-day impact will include:
- Providing in-class interpretation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students across various age groups
- Delivering interpretation for meetings involving deaf or hard-of-hearing parents and guardians
- Supporting school events and extracurricular activities, which may occasionally extend beyond standard school hours
- Collaborating with educators and related service staff to ensure seamless communication access in all learning environments
Desired qualifications and experience:
- A minimum EIPA score of 3.5 or VQAS Level III is preferred
- Promising candidates who have successfully passed the written EIPA exam may also be considered
- Demonstrated proficiency with American Sign Language and effective classroom communication skills
- Flexible, reliable, and motivated to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives
- Willingness to be assigned to multiple campuses within the Virginia Beach area as caseloads are determined
