Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III, or
OR Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5+ with passing written component,
OR National Interpreter Certification (NIC) or equivalent recognized national certification. - Previous experience in an educational setting is highly valued.
- Committed to working onsite only.
- Strong interpersonal skills and dedication to student success.
- Patient, flexible, and passionate about partnering with young learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-person ASL interpretation for a kindergarten student throughout the school day.
- Collaborate with classroom educators, school specialists, and the student’s support team to facilitate effective communication and inclusion.
- Adapt interpreting style to meet the individual needs of a young learner.
- Support daily classroom activities and engagement, enabling the student’s fullest participation.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all communications.
