Qualifications/Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language demonstrated by an ASLPI score of 4.1 or higher
- Prior experience supporting students in an educational setting as a Sign Language Interpreter preferred
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and communication needs within schools
- Ability to foster supportive, productive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Current national or state certification as required
- Flexibility to adapt interpreting styles based on student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, confidential, and student-centered 1:1 interpreting services during classroom sessions and school activities
- Facilitate clear communication between students, educators, and peers
- Support student independence and participation in both academic and extracurricular settings
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to adapt materials and create an inclusive environment
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards per school and interpreting guidelines
