As a Sign Language Interpreter, you’ll spend your days collaborating with school staff and helping a preschool student thrive. A strong command of American Sign Language and relevant interpreting experience in educational environments will set you up for success. This is a full-time position, with a consistent schedule of 6.5 hours per day, from 7:10am to 2:10pm.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid EIPA score of 3.5 or higher required
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school or similar setting preferred
- Ability to build rapport with young children and support their learning and socialization
- Professionalism, flexibility, and a collaborative approach with educators and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct 1:1 interpreting services for a PreK student throughout the school day
- Facilitate clear communication between the student, peers, and school staff
- Support student participation and engagement in classroom and school activities
- Uphold confidentiality and adhere to professional standards for educational interpreting
- Participate in IEP or team meetings and implement recommendations as needed
