Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter credentials, with a minimum 3.5 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience working with young children, preferably in educational settings
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student needs
- Professionalism, compassion, and adaptability in a school environment
- Commitment to confidentiality and student privacy
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation for a Pre-K student, facilitating effective two-way communication during classroom instruction and daily activities
- Assist in adapting classroom content, instructions, and routines to meet the unique needs of the student
- Work collaboratively with teachers and school staff to ensure the student’s educational access and active participation
- Maintain interpretive accuracy and support learning in both structured classroom and informal settings
- Contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and documentation as needed
- Promote social and academic growth, helping the student engage with peers and the school community
