Key Qualifications:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification/credentials, with an EIPA score of 3.5 or above
- Previous experience in a school setting or working with children is highly desirable
- Strong command of expressive and receptive sign language skills
- Ability to collaborate as part of an educational team
- Excellent interpersonal abilities for effective communication with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism in a school setting
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct sign language interpretation for a Deaf or Hard of Hearing PreK student
- Facilitate communication during classroom lessons, school events, meetings, and daily interactions
- Support the student in understanding and accessing the educational curriculum
- Interpret for both academic and social activities, ensuring full participation within the classroom
- Work closely with teachers and special education staff, adhering to IEP accommodations and school protocols
- Maintain accurate and confidential records as required
