Step into a meaningful role supporting student success as a school-based Sign Language Interpreter for a PreK student. This contract opportunity runs from ASAP through late May 2027, offering 30 hours per week in a nurturing educational environment. You’ll provide vital communication support, ensuring equal access to instruction and school activities for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate, unbiased interpreting for a PreK student on a 1:1 basis
- Facilitate seamless communication between the student, teachers, staff, and peers in classrooms and school functions
- Interpret classroom lessons, meetings, extracurricular activities, and events
- Support the student’s access to learning and full participation in school life
- Work closely with teachers and special education staff to tailor support and meet individual educational goals
- Uphold confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times
- Follow IEP accommodations and adhere to school policies
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification/credentials, including EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
- Previous experience working with children or within a school setting is highly valued
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Collaborative spirit and ability to function effectively as part of an educational team
