You'll provide essential instructional and consultative services, ensuring that students with hearing impairments thrive both academically and socially in their inclusive school environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver IEP-driven educational services to students with hearing impairments across various campuses as assigned.
- Consult and coordinate regularly with classroom teachers and support staff to develop effective materials and adapt learning experiences.
- Facilitate access to suitable auditory equipment and materials for students' unique needs.
- Maintain consistent documentation, including IEPs, progress summaries, quarterly reports, and related school records.
- Offer in-service training, guiding educators to create more inclusive and supportive classroom environments.
- Identify emerging needs, troubleshoot hearing assistive technologies, and support the integration of students within regular education settings.
- Carry out additional tasks as directed by the Coordinator of Speech, Hearing and Autism.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and active Louisiana teacher’s certification in Hearing Impaired.
- Minimum of three years’ experience supporting hearing-impaired students in general education settings.
- Proficiency in sign language and a solid understanding of current best practices for assistive technology.
- Strong communication, collaborative, and problem-solving skills with a talent for inspiring and working with diverse groups.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, maintain professionalism, and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to perform equipment troubleshooting for hearing aids, cochlear implants, and related devices.
- Competence in producing accurate and timely student records and reports.
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening in line with district guidelines.
