Skills & Experience Sought:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language, with experience as a school-based Sign Language Interpreter
- EIPA score of 4.0 (performance), with written component, and listing on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry - Dept. of Health). RID and NIC certifications may also be considered but must be accompanied by the written component.
- Previous experience in VOCO (virtual interpreting) environments
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and staff
- Adaptability in working with high school-aged students and managing evolving caseloads
- Reliable internet and workspace for virtual engagement, if necessary
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, school activities, and peer interactions for high school students
- Foster direct communication access between students and teachers in both in-person and virtual settings
- Collaborate with educational teams to support student inclusion and success
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards and ethical guidelines
- Manage scheduling and documentation requirements as needed by the school or district
