Sign Language Interpreter in Gretna, LA

As part of a dedicated team focused on student success, you’ll deliver educational services and collaborate closely with educators and staff to help hearing impaired students thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide IEP-directed educational services to resource-level hearing impaired students.
- Consult with regular education teachers and school staff to maximize students’ learning potential.
- Request and coordinate materials and auditory equipment tailored to the needs of hearing impaired students, including hearing aids and assistive listening devices.
- Maintain frequent communication with classroom teachers for the preparation of instructional materials and assessments.
- Conduct in-service training sessions to equip school personnel in supporting hearing impaired students effectively.
- Produce and maintain required documentation, including IEP files, progress notes, quarterly reports, and school records.
- Support students across assigned campuses as needed, serving various age groups throughout the school year.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Speech, Hearing, and Autism.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and Louisiana teacher’s certification in Hearing Impaired required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching hearing impaired students in regular education settings.
- Strong communication, change leadership, and motivational skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, including data-driven decision-making.
- Collaborative style and a desire to work with diverse teams.
- High level of professionalism, multitasking, and good judgment.
- Experience troubleshooting student auditory equipment.
- Basic proficiency in sign language.
- Tech-savvy, with a background in maintaining reports and student records.
- Successful completion of fingerprinting and drug screening as per district policy.
