Step into a vital role supporting the educational experience of high school students as an experienced Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time, contract position spans from ASAP through May 27, 2027, and offers you the chance to collaborate with dedicated professionals, ensuring access and inclusion for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Enjoy a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, providing 35 hours per week based on the school calendar.
Key Qualifications:
- Holds an EIPA score of 4.0 (performance and written), listed on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry—Dept. of Health)
- RID and NIC certifications are also accepted, provided the written component is completed
- Demonstrated prior experience in VOCO interpreting services
- Comfortable working with high school aged students; flexible in adapting to changes in caseload or campus assignments throughout the contract
- Skilled in fostering positive, respectful communication within a school environment
- Ability to manage confidential information and uphold ethical standards
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time VOCO sign language interpretation for classes, meetings, and school activities on a high school campus/campuses
- Collaborate with educational staff to support student learning, facilitate comprehension, and encourage engagement
- Adapt communication approach to individual student needs, supporting their educational and social inclusion
- Participate in meetings and training as required to stay current with best practices and district policies
