Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Hampton, Virginia

This full-time, contract-to-hire opportunity offers a supportive, school-based setting with a collaborative team. You’ll work 37.5 hours per week, from August 2026 through July 2027, playing a crucial role in facilitating communication and equal access to education.
Your skills and dedication will be highly valued, and your commitment is rewarded with an attractive compensation starting at $36+ per hour, paid weekly. Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification with a 3.5+ EIPA score or VQAS Level II/III (required)
- Previous experience supporting K-12 students in a school-based setting is highly regarded
- Ability to facilitate effective communication between students, staff, and peers
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical interpreting practices
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-person sign language interpretation for students throughout the school day in both classroom and individualized settings
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure student needs are met
- Accurately convey classroom instruction as well as social communication
- Adjust interpreting mode and approach based on student age, environment, and activity
- Support the educational and social development of students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing
