Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct educational services to hearing-impaired students, following IEP requirements
- Work with classroom teachers to tailor materials and assessments for student success
- Facilitate and advocate for necessary auditory equipment, ensuring seamless integration within academic settings
- Offer consultation and in-service training to school staff, fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere
- Maintain comprehensive records, progress notes, and reports in compliance with school protocols
- Troubleshoot hearing aids, cochlear implants, and other assistive devices as needed
- Engage in proactive communication with both staff and families to maximize student achievement
- Adapt flexibly to additional duties as assigned by the Coordinator
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and active Louisiana teacher’s certification in Hearing Impaired required
- At least three years of experience in education with hearing-impaired students in inclusive settings
- Proficient in sign language and comfortable with a range of assistive listening technology
- Excellent communication, collaborative, and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and professional judgment abilities
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and reporting
- Completion of district fingerprinting and drug screening processes
