In this rewarding role, you’ll help ensure hearing impaired students receive quality education and support. You’ll collaborate closely with teachers, families, and the Student Support team to maximize each child's learning potential while furthering your own expertise along the way.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and current Louisiana teacher’s certification in Hearing Impaired required
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working with hearing impaired students in regular education settings
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities across diverse audiences
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining auditory equipment (hearing aids, cochlear implants, sound field equipment, assistive listening devices)
  • Basic proficiency in sign language; skilled in computer-based documentation and report-writing
  • Successful completion of district background, fingerprinting, and drug screening

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver IEP-directed educational services to hearing impaired students, primarily at the resource level
  • Facilitate needs assessments, material requests, and equipment support
  • Partner with general education staff, providing training to cultivate an inclusive school culture
  • Maintain comprehensive records, including IEPs, progress notes, and quarterly reports
  • Take on other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Speech, Hearing, and Autism
