Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- RID or EIPA certification strongly preferred
- Previous experience working in a school setting, ideally with elementary-aged students
- Ability to interpret accurately and effectively in 1:1 educational settings
- Professionalism, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills
- Commitment to maintaining student confidentiality and ethical standards
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpretation for a designated elementary student throughout the school day
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education instructors, and other support staff to ensure comprehensive communication support
- Promote student engagement and participation by facilitating clear, accessible communication during instructional and school activities
- Adapt interpreting techniques to suit classroom content and the student’s learning needs
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that empowers the student’s academic and social development
This position is full-time, with a schedule of 37.5 hours per week. All work is on-site, supporting a single student in their classroom and within the school community.
