Qualifications:
- Active IL SLI License through ISBE required
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation within school settings
- Understanding of educational terminology and students’ unique communication needs
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and cultural sensitivity
- Prior experience in an educational or pediatric environment is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and clear ASL interpretation for students, faculty, and staff
- Support classroom instruction and school activities, ensuring equal access for deaf or hard-of-hearing students
- Collaborate with educators and support personnel to adapt communication approaches as needed
- Foster an inclusive, respectful environment for all students
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with school and state protocols
- Prepare for and participate in meetings, workshops, or briefings when requested
