This contract begins as soon as possible and continues through June 10, 2026, covering student days only. You’ll work consistently, Monday through Friday, providing crucial access and support during the school day.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with fluency required
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settings
- Previous work with elementary-aged children or in K-12 schools is highly valued
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, adaptable to kindergarten students' needs
- National or state interpreter certification, or eligibility to obtain (preferred)
- Commitment to confidentiality and the educational rights of students
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, activities, and student interactions for a kindergarten student
- Collaborate closely with teachers and support staff to foster a fully inclusive environment
- Assist in adapting materials and communication to suit the student’s level and objectives
- Maintain professionalism and discretion within the school setting
- Provide real-time ASL interpretation during all academic and classroom activities
